Bangalore: Polling for Council Election Today

Bangalore, Dec 18: For the 23 vacant seats in the legislative council of the state, polling is scheduled to be held on Friday December 18. 93 candidates, who are in the fray, will be testing their fortunes in the election.
For undertaking poll-related work in the 5,523 polling booths set up for the purpose by the Election Commission, officials left on Thursday for their destinations along with necessary materials. Polling is scheduled to be held from 8 am to 4 pm today.
The Commission expects the polling percentage to be very near to 100%, as last time, the poll percentage recorded was 99%. Out of the 25 seats that were to go to polls, two seats from Dakshina Kannada constituency have already been shared by the BJP and the Congress Party, at the rate of one each. While the Congress and JDS have formed an alliance for this election, the BJP is going it all alone.
Leaders like former minister, Veerakumar Patil, Basavaraj Patil, current legislators, N Manjunath, S Ravi, Nazir Ahmed etc., are in the poll fray.
