Corona death: Case filed against Bantwal doctor for negligence

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (EP)

Bantwal, Apr 20: A case has been filed against a doctor for negligence for treating a woman infected with coronavirus. The case was registered against the doctor as he failed to report notifiable disease to concerned health department as per Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act (KPME) Act.

The deceased from Kasba village here, was later admitted to Wenlock hospital on April 19 for treatment. Her husband and son who were contacted to obtain details of the case said that the deceased was suffering from pneumonia and did not get cured from it even after taking treatment from several doctors.

Suffering from fever from April 15, she was taken to Dr Sadashiva Shenoy, Navadurga Clinic, for treatment. Dr Sadashiva, who was supposed to refer all contagious diseases to the concerned health department as per KPME Act, gave medicine for four days to her and did not direct her to go to hospital even though her health was serious.

Bantwal town police registered a case against Dr Sadashiva of Navadurga Clinic on Monday, April 20, on the basis of complaint by taluk medical officer for ignoring his responsibility and not informing the health department.

When everybody has givenup and closed the clinics much against the ehics of the doctors, this brave heart noble soul doctor really cared for the sick and I personally know how he has saved a child when the regularly visiting paediatrician closed the doors during lockdown.
"Did not direct her to go to hospital" statement appears to be silly because I think every doctor advise the patient verbally & not in writing. Now the interpretation can be anything.
" The deceased was suffering from pneumonia and did not get cured from it even after taking treatment from several doctors". This means all those doctors will be traced and booked ? How can this is a case of negligence ? Please dont target we need such Covid 19 Heros.

If this patient has a medical record of breathing problems and co morbidity for long time and the patient too was diagnosed for it all the period, how is the Doctor responsible here?

Corona has entered India in this season and taken many precious lives. Lab tests giving false negative is accepted as such. But a doctor who is cautious every time and the patient showing symptoms of Corona after going away from clinic and passing away is sued? This cannot be the negligence of Doctor for sure. Please go through the case and the Doctor not made a victim. I feel, the doctor did his best for the recovery of the patient. If at all the patient had exhibited symptoms of Corona before diagnosis, will the doctor risk his life and life of his other dependents?

This case will put the lives of Doctors in danger . Doctors may send all patients back home without giving treatment till the Corona is wiped out of India.

We Indians don't care our own safety.we don't follow ministry rules.we show rowdysm, we bring education before us,and show off our wealth and we don't care for anyone. We try to speak in English language to show off. We feel ashamed to talk in konkani, Kannada or Tulu or any other language
At last when tragedy takes its own course we target for doctors nurses and medical staff. For what?
Ministry should not entertain such cases.

how was the doctor to know this was a coronavirus infected patient, unless tested? Filing FIR seems to be a case of administrative over-reach. Instead, focus on testing to detect in time.

Well done.. When there where no doctors available this doctor chose to offer his service for the welfare of the patient and he is booked. Of course he should have notified. But booking a case against him is not the way. Ex ministers son holds wedding where several people attend. That is lawful!!this doctor is booked.. Great...!

One should not find scapegoats in doctors or patients. The fact that the person had returned from abroad long time back ,the positive report could be false positive. Also the is a difference in dying due to Corona and dying with Corona.

Readers, this present madness of targeting Doctors, nurses, medical staff must cease immediately !!! Our frontline warriors are intimidated, threatened, abused, stoned, daily, in many states across our nation....There is a deep seated conspiracy, to destroy our country, from evil axis, residing within and across our borders... The government must investigate n prosecute such individuals and organizations, at the earliest !!!!
