67-year-old neighbour of Bantwal’s coronavirus casualty tests positive

Bantwal, Apr 21: A 67-year-old woman living in the neighbourhood of coronavirus casualty of Bantwal, has tested positive for coronavirus.

The lady was suffering from respiratory issues and was admitted to Wenlock hospital on April 18. Her swab sample was taken and sent for tests. The result was positive.

It is suspected that she might have contracted the infection from the 42-year-old patient who passed away due to coronavirus on April 19 in Bantwal. According to sources, the lady who has now tested positive lives in the neighbourhood of the patient who passed away on April 19.

With this, the number of positive patients in Dakshina Kannada, has increased to 16. Twelve have been discharged after getting cured completely, three are currently being treated, and one has passed away.

    All these COVID-19 test kits brought from China, are found to be giving incorrect results.
    In Italy they failed while giving only 10% correct results.
    They were horrible even in USA, that is why all the test kits were thrown out, now they are using US made kits, only.
    India should get the know how from USA and they can mass produce in India, as the immediate measure.

    Why all DK Covid19 patients admitted to wenlick hospital? Why no hospitals in other place's?
    Why not using other government hospitals near to virus infected place?

    This makes trouble and tension for our Mangalore people.

    Bantwal has become the new hotspot, especially in Dakshin Kannada district.... The government must isolate its residents n conduct rapid tests, to weed out potential symptomatic and positive Covid19 infected individuals, at the earliest... Mangaluru city residents n adjoining villages, must be protected from acquiring this infectious virus....

    On humaintarian ground even not able to see ill person either he belonged to family or someone in neighbourhood. It means we reached to that stage wants to fight battle single-handedly without anybody's near and dear ones.

    Granted, the second patient got it from the first. From whom did the first one get it ? It is unlikely that she infected herself from her son who returned to India much more that three weeks back (usual gestation period of Covid-19). If it was him, he himself too would have tested positive.

    More investigation is needed to find out from where it came to the locality.

    The first patient's son, husband and daughter, all are tested negative for the virus.
    Also her son returned to India on FEBRUARY 13, which is more than 8 weeks.

    High level investigation is required in this case.

    I wonder why the present test kits are used in the first place which have 50: 50 chance of scoring right out of 100.
    According to one doctor the test kit manual clearly states it is for experimental testing only, & not to be used for testing corona infection!
    The reason is it is yet to get FDA approval from US & until they prove more reliable they won't get the approval too.

    Covid in India is unnoticeable in 80% of cases. Few get minor infection and their body overcomes the infection without any symptoms....the first case here might have got from dubai returned son or from any of his contaminated cloths.

    Returned on February 13, it's been 60+ days now.
    As per the investigator virus stays for 14 days in the body and 3 days on the surface.
    And test result has come negative.

    First patient who died might got infection early....within 20 of her son comming back...its clearly she got infections from her dubai returned son, even though he is negetive now, as he might have recovered.
