Mangalore: Three-day Decennial Celebration Concludes at Lourdes Central School

Mangalore, Dec 23: The three-day long decennial celebrations of Lourdes Central School, Bejai here at the school grounds concluded with the annual day of senior secondary section on Tuesday December 22.
The third day was celebrated with felicitation of past presidents of Parent Teachers’ Association, the senior teaching and non-teaching staff of the senior secondary section of the institute. The event was followed by the cultural programme.
Prof K M Kaveriappa, vice-chancellor of Mangalore University was the chief guest at the senior secondary section annual day. He said that students should excel and polish their talents during the school days. Participation in various activities like sports and other extra-curricular activities improves the brain and muscle power. Active student life also help one mould professional career, he added.
Assistant superintendent of police Amit Singh, guest of honour at the programme said that the students should be law abiding and learn to follow rules and regulations. This will help them grow into good citizens, he added.
Vicar general and vice-president of Catholic Board of Education, monsignor Dennis Moras Prabhu presided over the function. Parent and Teachers Association president Ivan D’Souza, principal Grace Noronha and vice-principal Jyothi Rai were also present.
Student of the senior secondary section presented the Christmas at Jones, an English play and parents presented the folk dance during the cultural programme.
The programme began with presentation of document related to the achievements by the institution and also introducing various achievers of the school in national and state-level sports and extra-curricular competitions.
The first day of the celebration, the annual day of kindergarten and primary section was held in presence of district in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar. On the second day Allan C Pereira, chief managing director of Bank of Maharashtra and Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri were the guests.
