AIIMS nurse, guard test positive, cancer patients advised quarantine


New Delhi, Apr 26 (IANS): A nurse of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, has tested positive for coronaVirus, a hospital source said on Sunday.

The source told IANS that the nurse was posted at cancer ward in the hospital therefore, all the patients who came for chemotherapy, have been asked to go for self quarantine. The staff, including nurses and doctors, on duty in the Cancer Chemo Department, were also quarantined.

The source also also told IANS that two children of the nurse have also tested positive.

Besides, a security guard at the AIIMS hospital is also coronavirus positive.

"A total of seven staff members of AIIMS have been tested positive so far," said the source.

This takes the total number of the staff, as well as their dependents at the AIIMS affected by Covid-19, up to 20.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country mounted to 26,917 on Sunday evening, the Union Health Ministry said.
