Bantwal, Apr 27: The jewellery shop owners, who usually do a roaring business during the Akshaya Tritiya day that is believed to be an auspicious occasion, which fell on Sunday, April 26 this year, could not conduct business this day because of compulsory lockdown. Several such stores had come up with schemes to book gold online from home and get delivery once the lockdown ends. There is a young jeweller in the town who has opened up a scheme that is refreshing and different from those of others.

Sunil B, who owns Apoorva Jewellers here, has invited those who intended to buy gold, to extend help to people who are undergoing miseries on account of spread of coronavirus infection.

Sunil explains that as per explanations provided in Vedic and Puranas, Akshaya Tritiya day as per Hindu calendar is a unique day. It is believed that good and noble things taken up on that day flourish and multiply. Therefore, people choose this day to undertake auspicious ceremonies, start business, or buy gold.

This time however, the entire universe is pitted against a biological warfare. The world has been waging a war against coronavirus. Therefore, Sunil reasons, instead of buying gold, he customers should come to the rescue of those in distress.

Sunil has advised people to extend one percent of the amount they wanted to invest in gold in cash to a family facing woes on account of the current conditions. He has asked them to provide the details thereof to the WhatsApp number of Apoorva Jewellers. He has also set the condition that the photograph of the persons who received the aid should not be shared. After six days of Akshaya Tritiya, he says he will select one winner through lucky draw and the person so selected will be felicitated and a gold coin will be presented to him at Apoorva Jewellers once lockdown ends.

Sunil gleefully admitted that his scheme of assisting the poor has received tremendous response from his customers.

Subrahmanya Pai from B C Road says that he had planned to buy ear hangings for his wife on Akshaya Tritiya day. He says that he liked the scheme of Apoorva Jewellers and has decided to use this money to help those in distress.
