Ensure screening of people entering state: Himachal CM

Shimla, Apr 27 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday directed officers to ensure complete medical examination of people before they enter the hill state.

He said all the people who are returning to the state should be medically examined at the borders itself and only thereafter they should be allowed to go to their respective destinations for home quarantine.

The Chief Minister said it must be made mandatory for the people entering the state to download Arogya Setu app.

He said the mechanism of issuing passes by the Deputy Commissioners concerned should be staggered so as to avoid overcrowding at the state's entry points.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his video conference with the Chief Ministers has specially emphasised the need for social distancing.

He said separate strategies should be prepared for red zones and orange zones so that these could be converted into green zones at the earliest.

Thakur said efforts should be made to start economic activities particularly in the green zones. He said special thrust must be laid on providing smooth movement of essential commodities and farming equipment.

The Chief Minister said since selective shops were allowed to open in certain areas, it must be ensured that effective social distancing is maintained there and everyone uses face masks and sanitisers.
