Bengaluru, Apr 28: Senior officials who had analysed coronavirus situation based on data collected so far, have reportedly sent a warning to the state government about the catastrophe that could be let loose by the pandemic if lockdown rules are eased. On the basis of the way the disease has spread so far, they have projected that by May 6, the number of infected persons in Karnataka might cross 1,000 from the current 501.

The officials have calculated the speed at which the disease might gallop in different districts. As per their calculations, the proliferation of the disease will be high in Bengaluru, Vijayapura, Belagavi and Mysuru districts.

Out of the districts where infected people are found, the situation is under control in Kodagu and Chitradurga districts. They expect the same situation to continue. The officials do not expect chances of new infections being found in districts that are in green zone now. They have calculated that the 501 infected cases in Karnataka as on April 25 may go up to 1,086 in the next 12 days.

Based on the report, the government can take precautions in different districts by giving more attention to certain zones. As a precaution, they can prepare medical facilities required to handle so many cases.

Wherever infection cases are high automatically the number of people getting quarantined will soar. The report has pointed out that in spite of strict lockdown rules, the disease is able to spread its grip so much, and as such, expects the infection to go up steeply if people behave recklessly and do not maintain social distance once lockdown is lifted.

Towards providing plasma therapy to coronavirus patients, plasma from two donors was collected by Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute from two patients in Victoria Hospital on Monday. A team led by oncologist, Dr Vishal Rao, collected the plasma and said that treatment will begin once the patient is identified. He has asked the donors to volunteer to donate plasma as the result will be out within a week unlike about a month in other cases, as per the guidelines of Indian Medical Research Council.
