Mangaluru: Old social media posts marring jobs, future prospects in Gulf

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 29: Their old posts in websites are proving to be their undoing and donning the roles of their nemesis for the dreams of having a comfortable job with attractive income in the Gulf for a number of people from coastal Karnataka who are now working in that region.

A person from here working in Kuwait lost his job close on the heels of lockdown enforcement. His wife, who is working as technical expert in a hospital at Kuwait too is on the verge of losing her job. This is because a post they had created in a Facebook page long back in which terrorist Jihadis were ridiculed, has become viral.

The person has now sent in his apology through WhatsApp. He said he erred in creating the said post because of lack of awareness. While confirming that it was not purposeful, he said he has high respect for all kinds of people. He also said that he has deactivated his Facebook page, while regretting his past mistake.

An NRI Indian, expressing his opinion on the issue, said that it is necessary to exercise extreme caution when posting or forwarding something in websites. A message that was created or forwarded for fun at the nick of the moment can harm the entire life. "It is necessary to make sure that one's personal information is not made available on websites. In certain cases, it might be wise to deactivate the pages," he stated.

A person working in a Gulf country lost his job. He has been accused of treating a specific religion with profanity. He had forwarded a cartoon which was published in an English publication relating to the spread of coronavirus in the country on account of a mega religious convention organized at New Delhi about a month back.

It is said that a group of people has been continuously monitoring activities in social websites of people from coastal Karnataka employed in the Gulf. This group identifies posts on which objections can be raised based on religious issues, and tags these posts to Kuwait Interior ministry, department concerned, and owner of the company for which the person works. This has resulted in job loss for many.

No Rudolf. Employers in Gulf countries need no reason to terminate any of their
Employees. Some are kind enough to let you tansfer sponsorship and take up new job with another employer.. It all depends how well you have performed either them.
This particular issue is one,s own doing and reaping the fruit of the deeds.
No doubt , this trend will increase and may hurt innocent individuals too.
Time for us living in India to refrain from hurting sentiments of others If we
Understand that we live in this World and not in India Only.
Call centre and phone call banking frauds originating from India is hurting our
    Reputation in the World.
Consider that we Indians are on notice in many countries. Time to put the house in order . Regret and change. Not too late. Corona has given us an opportunity for new lifestyle. If we survive.

Will any of Gulf countries investigate & punish if anyone submits a report of persons staying in a Gulf country who have written bad comments on Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, Sikh, Jew, Christian or any other minor religion of the world on social media?

How many of people here believe Dawood Ibrahim does not have any business interest in Gulf countries? Has any of Gulf country carried out investigation based on this video - (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZa81RZJIDw) like they carried out investigation based on complaint of social media bloggers or they waiting for the same group to inform them?

My sincere advice to my countrymen working in Gulf is not to carried away by the hatred messages spread by the fake WhatsApp university. Their main intention is to divide the Indians based on religion so that they can win the elections easily. Let us support any leader or party based on the developmental work and who has the blueprint to make India progress in all fields.

I too have worked in Gulf for 15 years and all Indians are treated equally without bias on religion. We all Indians live happily helping each other in the time of difficulty and no religion comes in the way. Only when we land in India this differentiation is deep rooted. Politicians are aware that they can still win the election without doing any work but by keeping the religious divide alive. Maximum energy is spent on spreading hatred messages.

I request everybody to understand this evil design of the politicians and keep ourselves away from such hatred. Let us all work unitedly and contribute to our country one way or the other. When we are united no force on the earth can defeat us.

    Remember Unity is the strength.

I agree with you on the 'politicians win on religion' grounds. The best example is RaGa when he sure to lose Amethi . He ran away to Wayanad Kerala, a safe constituency for Cong. You dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure why? One look at the population there and you know why.

Come on Guys!!! Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman jointly rejected the efforts of some of their citizens and expats residing there to accuse India of Islamophobia. Instead, they thank India for its 'invaluable help' in fighting COVID-19!. It is proven beyond doubt that the anti-India propaganda campaign was conceived, planned, and financed by Pak and ISI to create a rift between India and Gulf countries. Media reports and social media posts from the Middle East, most of it originating from Pakistan deep state, accusing India of Islamophobia have also dried up. Interestingly many leftist 'intellectuals', 'journalists', and 'celebrities' in India too joined this Pakistan sponsored fake Islamophobia chorus. It is a matter of shame and disgust.

In most of the Gulf countries, people have freedom to practice their religion and eat or drink whatever they like. Such, freedom even not possible even in our own country.
Many bhakts working in Gulf think that they can do same here and their papa Mödi will protect them always. If you want to stay in Gulf then respect all the religion and follow the countrys law.
If they have so much love for RSS, then better they work in India and dont come to Gulf and embarass other peaceful indians.

Too much kuthanthri and adhikaprasanga when working in foreign lands is not good. Keep your religious beliefs about yours, and other people's religions, in the prayer room of your own house! Learn some tolerance.
Some years ago, Singapore also deported a few India-origin Tamil labourers, for writing biased views about Singaporean Chinese (but not on their religious beliefs)...so nothing wrong if Gulf countries deport elements of extreme religious beliefs. It is their country after all. Shape up, or ship out. Abide and adhere to the local rules.

Your statement "keep religion /prayer to ur room" holds good for INDIA too. It is because religion and prayer of some has come to road which gives problem in India. And add to this appeasement of some political parties to such religion makes difficult to implement some LAWS which will improve /development of INDIA
Just see even after 72 years of INDEPENDENCE we can't have a COMMON LAW for a whole country. Atleast the present Govt is doing something in this line lije removal of 370 /35A, bringing CAA etc etc. And some parties r instigating some for their personnel gain.
The present situation in GULF is whether you write something which you feel right or don't write anything job opportunities r very dim.
