But Sir tell me, how to contain this disease other than lock down... During lock down, it spreads so fast.. Without lock down? First and foremost factor here is, we don't have so many "ventilators and other medical equipments if many get admitted. So, in this case, safety for people to stay at home unless otherwise they have emergencies to go out. Those who have business/shops etc are doing regular business. Only theatres, malls, gyms etc are not performing... Rest so many are under "work from home" option...

Herd immunity is the only solution,(as in Sweden) until we find a treatment or vaccine.Even if there is a lockdown for 2 years what is the guarantee that the next day an infected person may not start a second wave? Also death rate due to lockdown (hunger , walking 200 kms home, lack of treatment for common ailments like appendicitis, diabetes kidney problems and later on malnutrition due to poverty) will be more -much more than Corona itself as the deaths in corona are more because of comorbiditis. Also one has to remember that the virus has mutated several times and a new strain can start things all over again. Let nature take it's own course.God Is the creator and destroyer. leave it all to Him to decide and not to politicians. The fear and panic is entirely misplaced.Again Be Happy Be Healthy .

    My dear Monty Doctor,
It is difficult to educate the uneducated...
when u say herd immunity, u have to specifically give an example, other they will not understand .
For ex. Herd immunity = "bhakth immunity", then they will understand.

Herd immunity occurs when a virus is allowed to take its own natural course. This is more true for viruses that affect the respiratory system- read lungs. When a large percentage of the population is exposed to a virus our own body produces antibodies-substances that fight the virus.Once many people get immunity there remains no host that the virus can find to lodge itself,so it dies (and human race survives). Because of this phenomenon the virus disappears before an active vaccine is developed .This approach cannot be taken in more dangerous viruses like Ebola, Nepah (mortality more than 40%) etc where the mortality directly because of the virus is very high (unlike Corona where it is more because of comorbidity - ie other uncontrolled medical conditions. In Ebola or Nepah lockdown or more specifically containment and isolation is necessary.

Sir, thank you so much for taking your valuable time in explaining the meaning of "herd immunity... ". I feel, in such case, chances of people getting infected is more. When many get infected there should be sufficient treatment available for the basic symptoms. Since, this virus mutates there may be so many deaths due to the Insufficient medical facilities ..
