Mangaluru, Apr 29: A fever clinic bus that will help identification of coronavirus-infected persons and help them to get proper treatment, and the other, a mini bus for collecting throat swabs of people suspected of this infection, are ready to serve the citizens of Dakshina Kannada district.
As per the directions of the district administration, experts at the KSRTC workshop here have converted a bus of the corporation into fever clinic under the guidance of divisional controller of KSRTC here, H S Arun.
This bus has been specially designed to enable medical check-up and medical counselling. Different cabins are in place for the driver and the doctors and the general public in the bus. Sanitisers and wash basin too have been provided.
Speaker, microphone and medical examination facilities are provided in the bus where the people can have consultation. Seats are so arranged to facilitate maintenance of social distance. The bus has been equipped with television set to provide information about coronavirus, tank for collecting waste water, separate seating for the nurses, resting place for doctors and other medical staff, five fans, five LED lights, five mobile charger units, and laptop charger systems.
A separate mini bus that has been modelled like Maruti Omni van, which will be used to collect throat swabs of suspects, is also ready for service. The fever bus will move around areas where COVID 19 positive cases are found and other places as found necessary. This clinic will have a doctor, nurse, and a group D employee. The bus has facility to check fever, cough and respiratory problems. It has also been provided with thermal scanner and blood pressure monitor. This mobile fever clinic also has facility for treatment and dispense medicines. It goes to extensions and checks health of people. The fever clinic has been shaped by KSRTC on the model of the isolation wards created by railways out of railway compartments.
