Lockdown day 36: No new cases reported in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 29: No new cases of coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, on Wednesday, April 29.

As of April 29, a total of 39,632 people have been screened in the district, including 70 on Wednesday. A total of 2,841 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 2,426 have tested negative and 21 positive. Seven cases are currently active, and 12 have been discharged. Two patients have died.

A total of 59 persons have been quarantined at NIT-K Suratkal, and 40 in ESI hospital.

Altogether 6,073 people have completed 28 days of home quarantine.

Six positive cases from places other than Dakshina Kannada were treated in Mangaluru.

As many as 248 samples were sent for test on April 29. As many as 390 reports were received today and all of them tested negative. Reports of 394 samples are awaited.

As many as 12 people are admitted for observation. As many as 1,859 patients have been treated at fever clinics. Twenty-one people have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI).

Patient P-409 from Bantwal, who has admitted to Wenlock, is in a serious condition and is on ventilator support in the ICU, the district administration said in a press release.

In Udupi district, no fresh cases were recorded on Wednesday. Three corona-positive patients have been cured and discharged from hospital.

As per statistics, a total of 3,464 persons, including 30 on Wednesday, have been detected, either with complaints of severe acute respiratory illness or contacts of corona-positive patients. Among them, 2,146 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 77 on Wednesday, and 2,891 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 71 on Wednesday.

A total of 490 people are presently under home quarantine.

Among those who are in hospital quarantine, 36 are high-risk, one low-risk. Seven have been admitted to isolation wards on Wednesday, among whom five have severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) and one has influenza-like illness (ILI). Altogether, 46 persons are in isolation wards, while 330 have been discharged including three on Wednesday.

As many as 11 samples were collected on Wednesday, taking the total to 1,116. These include five samples of SARI symptoms, and four with ILI symptoms.

Out of the sample reports received so far, 1,050 have tested negative. Reports of 63 samples are awaited.

Kasargod

Two people tested positive for coronavirus here on Wednesday. One is said to be working for media. The total number of patients to test positive has reached 178.
