Mumbai, Dec 30 (IANS) After making three back-to-back feel-good films, the latest being "3 Idiots", director Rajkumar Hirani says he may venture into the world of fantasy or animation.
"I like films belonging to the fantasy and animation genre. In fact, I may end up making one myself. Biographies interest me a lot as well; so I could even pick up one such subject as well," Hirani told IANS in an interview.
But the maker of "Munnabhai M.B.B.S" and "Lage Raho Munna Bhai" promises to keep things simple in his future projects too.
"That's the basic thought process that I have always applied. Now look at '3 Idiots', there were quite a few complex and emotional scenes in this film as well. However, credit it to the writing and execution by the team that they didn't appear to be heavy and passed off seamlessly," he said.
Hirani says he is looking at exploring a new world altogether in cinema, but not action or horror movies.
"Now action is something that I don't really enjoy directing. For that matter even horror. Just in order to showcase my versatility, I don't want to pick up something which is not really my area of interest," he said.
Hirani's latest offering - Aamir Khan-starrer comedy drama "3 Idiots" - has created a record by grossing over Rs.100 crore in its first four days. Reliance BIG Entertainment, the distributor of the film, released about 2,000 prints across 40 countries.
He says he was quite satisfied with the final outcome of "3 Idiots", which also featured R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor.
"In your heart, you should be satisfied with what you have made and in the case of '3 Idiots' I was pretty much satisfied when I saw the final copy. It didn't make me cringe and that was enough. That's the way I want my future films to be as well where I can proudly look back at the work I have done," said Hirani.
"I want to do what I enjoy doing most. This is the basic principle that I have followed right through my filmmaking career so far. Films like '3 Idiots' and the 'Munnabhai' series are a lot of fun for me. They belong to the feel-good genre where you laugh and cry when you step out of the auditorium after watching them.
"I am not here to prove a point to anyone. Due to this very reason I can afford to do what I wish to do. Currently I am plain and simple enjoying what I am doing and this is how I want things to be for my subsequent films as well. Really, I am in no hurry to make movies," the filmmaker added.
