COVID-19 infected woman gives birth to baby girl in Nagpur

Nagpur, Apr 30: A 28-year-old woman who has been infected with the deadly coronavirus gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday at Nagpur's Indira Gandhi Government College and Hospital (IGGMCH).

To test whether the newborn has also been infected with the coronavirus, a screening will be undertaken after three days of the infant's birth.

"A woman who tested positive for COVID-19 in IGGMCH has given birth to a baby girl. The baby's corona test will be conducted after three days," Dr Sagar Pandey, deputy superintendent, IGGMCH Nagpur was quoted in a report by ANI.

Earlier in the week, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) launched a mobile dispensary to screen pregnant women for COVID-19 in containment zones.

The NMC commissioner Tukaram Mundhe stated that they had already screened the tuberculosis patients and now they were focussing on screening pregnant women.
