Ghaziabad, Apr 30: A man from Ghaziabad who went out to purchase groceries surprisingly returned home with a wife. The lockdown allows people to step out to only procure essentials, but, it did not seem to stop the man from Ghaziabad from doing the unthinkable. Disturbed by her son's sudden and secretive marriage, the man's mother denied him entry into the house when he showed up with his newly-wed bride.

The mother then went to the police to file a complaint about her 26-year-old son Guddu. The amusing incident is reported from the Sahibabad area of the city, news agency ANI reported.

"I had sent my son to do the grocery shopping today, but when he returned, he came back with his wife. I am not ready to accept this marriage," the mother said.

Reportedly, the ceremony took place at Arya Samaj Mandir in Hardwar two months ago and the newlyweds are hopeful to get a marriage certificate once the lockdown is lifted.

"We could not get the marriage certificate at that time due to lack of witnesses. I had decided to visit Haridwar again but could not due to the lockdown," Guddu said.

As per Guddu, his decision to bring his wife Savita home was because she was asked to vacate the rented accommodation in Delhi which was her home during the lockdown.

"I decided to bring her to my mother's house as she was told to leave the rented accommodation due to lockdown," he added.

For now, Sahibabad police have asked Savita's landlord in Delhi to let them stay at the rented place.
