Lockdown day 37: One new corona positive case in DK, 1 death; none in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 30: After two days of relief for the district, Dakshina Kannada registered one case of coronavirus on Thursday, April 30. No fresh cases were reported in Udupi.

As reported earlier, a 69-year-old woman from Bantwal who had tested positive for coronavirus on April 20, passed away in Wenlock hospital.

The lone person to be tested positive today from Dakshina Kannada is a 58-year-old woman from Boloor. It is said that this woman had also been treated at First Neuro Hospital and had come in contact with patient No. 501 thus contracting the virus.

As of April 30, a total of 39,774 people have been screened in the district, including 142 on Thursday. A total of 2,573 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 2,551 have tested negative and 22 positive. Seven cases are currently active, and 12 have been discharged. Three patients have died.

A total of 59 persons have been quarantined at NIT-K Suratkal, and 40 in ESI hospital.

Altogether 6,073 people have completed 28 days of home quarantine.

Six positive cases from places other than Dakshina Kannada were treated in Mangaluru.

As many as 279 samples were sent for test on April 30. As many as 126 reports were received today in which 125 tested negative and one positive. Reports of 548 samples are awaited.

As many as nine people are admitted for observation. As many as 1,990 patients have been treated at fever clinics. Nine people have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI).

In Udupi district, no fresh cases were recorded on Thursday. Three corona-positive patients have been cured and discharged from hospital.

As per statistics, a total of 3,536 persons, including 72 on Thursday, have been detected, either with complaints of severe acute respiratory illness or contacts of corona-positive patients. Among them, 2,212 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 66 on Thursday, and 2,961 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 70 on Thursday.

A total of 483 people are presently under home quarantine.

Among those who are in hospital quarantine, 36 are high-risk, five low-risk. As many as 15 have been admitted to isolation wards on Thursday, among whom nine have severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) and three have influenza-like illness (ILI). Altogether, 51 persons are in isolation wards, while 340 have been discharged including 10 on Thursday.

As many as 29 samples were collected on Thursday, taking the total to 1,145. These include six samples of SARI symptoms, and 16 with ILI symptoms.

Out of the sample reports received so far, 1,066 have tested negative. Reports of 76 samples are awaited.
