Sullia: Kanakamajalu gram panchayat conferred with national award

Sullia, Apr 30: Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gramsaba Puraskar award, which is given under the Deendayal Panchayat Sashaktikaran based on the progress done in the year 2020, is bagged by Kanakamajalu gram panchayat of the taluk.

A team comprising of additional director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj S M Julfikar Ullah, educators Mallikarjuna Swamy and K R Shankar had visited various gram panchayats and conducted the inspection. The team had paid a visit in this regard to Kanakamajalu gram panchayat on February 13.

Out of the three gram panchayats that were short listed in the state of Karnataka, Kanakamajalu is selected for the award. This gram panchayat has already bagged several awards including Gandhi Gram Puraskara, Namma Gram Namma Yojane Puraskara and Swacchatha Puraskara.

Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gramsaba Puraskar award is given to 20 gram panchayats throughout the country every year. This includes a cash reward of Rs 10 lac and trophy.
