Kasargod: Three children of a family drown in pond at Kalluravi

Kasargod, May 1: In an unfortunate incident, three kids of a single family drowned in a pond. The incident happened at Kalluravi, Kanhangad on Thursday, April 30.

The deceased are identified as Bashir (4) son of Nooruddin, Ajnas (5) son of Nasir, and Nishad (6) son of Sameer.

As per reports, the kids went to pond to play and got stuck in the silt and drowned in the pond. The parents said that kids were playing near the house and later went missing.

Parents started looking for the kids and found the bodies in the pond situated 200 meters away from the house.

Locals immediately took the kids to Kanhangad hospital who were declared dead by doctors.

    I am again and again stressing that swimming should be mandatory part of the school curriculum. These little buds lives can be simply saved if they all trained for basic floating and few strokes to come to the river banks.

    But in India 'Yoga' is given is high importance than swimming classes. Yoga is not going to save life but swimming is.

    If Russians can make their few month old babies to swim, why India awaits for the disaster?

    smr karkala,Sir ,what you say is correct.but it is not so easy to do as we say.Not everywhere there are possibilitys to do,not every parent too is not ready or cant.People are not so far educated to learn the needy.Some community too dont see the need.Here itself they deny to send children to swimm .even though swimming is a part of school classes.Here it was parents pure negligence small children to let alone to play and search after sometime.one cant make children responsible.Its sad now children from same family lost three children. three parents.Heartfelt sympathys to the whole family.may these angels rest with angels.sometimes some ponds are deadly dangerous.once stuck cant comeout.

    Very sad to hear. Parents should check on small children every 10-15 minutes what they are doing as they do not know what is good or bad for them and in this way you can avoid unpleasant situations.
