Mangalore: Driver Suffers Heart Attack - Truck Hits Wall

Mangalore, Dec 31: A loaded lorry hit the wall of a dentist’s clinic at Nanthoor in the city, after its driver suffered heart attack while he was driving the vehicle towards Udupi, on Thursday December 31 morning.
The driver in question, named B Bhaskar, a resident of Mission Compound near Bolar in the city, was rushed to a private hospital in the city in serious condition. He breathed his last at the hospital a little later.
The accident did not cause any major damage to the wall of the clinic, as only a few cracks were found on the wall. The people, who witnessed the accident, said that the fact that the incident did not result in further loss of lives and damage to vehicles, was nothing short of a miracle. Luckily, there were no vehicles or pedestrians at the spot when the incident occurred, and the lorry escaped hitting the nearby electric pole by a few inches, they noted.
Kadri police have registered a case in this regard and a fire department rescue team conducted an operation to move the lorry aside.
In another accident that happened last night near KPT Junction in the city, a motor bike rider, Manik Raj Suvarna (25), lost his life, when a tanker hit his bike. The deceased was a resident of Bejai Kapikad in the city, and a relative of district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar.
In a separate incident, a pedestrian, Rakesh Gatti, a resident of Jeppu Market here, was admitted to a private hospital in the city, after he was hit by a car, on Thursday morning.
