New Delhi, May 1 (IANS): Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi has appointed 24 office bearers of the party's student wing NSUI ahead of the new session in the universities.
A note from K.C. Venugopal, party General Secretary said that "Congress President has approved the appointments."
The interim party chief has appointment 6 General Secretaries and 18 secretaries in the student wing. Debashree Bora from Assam, Vishal Choudhary from Haryana, Nagesh Kariyappa from Karnataka Anushesh Sharma from Uttar Pradesh, Abhishek Choudhary from Rajasthan, Gurjot Singh Sandhu from Chandigarh as General Secretaries.
An officebearer said that this time the central leadership has tried to accommodate people from all parts of the country.
The Congress student wing which has presence in many varsities has been decimated in consecutive elections in Delhi University where ABVP has been winning.
Many Congress leaders including Ajay Maken, Alka Lamba ,and Ragini Nayak have been DU office bearers.
The party wants to revive the student wing and recently the student body got success in Gujarat.
