Suspected Covid patient dies in J&K's Kupwara


Srinagar, May 2 (IANS): An 18-year-old girl suspected of suffering from Covid-19 died on Friday in a hospital in J&K's Baramulla district after which the authorities ordered her burial as per the Covid protocol.

Official sources said the teenaged girl belonging to Langate area of Kupwara was brought today to government medical college (GMC) hospital in Baramulla.

"On her arrival, she died of cardiac arrest. She had reported with high fever and breathlessness according to her family.

"These are flu symptoms and we took her swab for testing. Meanwhile, the family has been counselled to carry out the last rites as per the Covid protocol.

"We have handed over the body to the family and informed DM Kupwara and the concerned block medical officer to ensure that the burial takes place strictly after following the protocol," the Medical Superintendent of GMC hospital said.
