Mangalore : St Aloysius School Class of ’69 Reunites for 5th Time in 10 Years

Media Release

Mangalore, Jan 2: Classmates of Class of ’69 of St. Aloysius School met for a sentimental reunion at St. Aloysius High School, Light House Hill, Mangalore. These classmates had joined St. Aloysius Primary School in 1969. This is among the oldest Aloysian reunion groups of the city and they had first met in 1998. Subsequently the group has met for five times over the last five years.

The reunion function began with a Welcome address by Ranganath C. Kini, who is presently a corporator of Mangalore City Corporation.

Four teachers - Evelyn D’silva, Lawrence Pinto, Celine Concessao and Ralph D’Cunha - were honoured with shawl, citation, fruit basket and memento. While Fr. Dionysius Vaz and Fr. Melwin Pinto took turns to give the latest update on the teachers who were being honoured, other classmates shared the privilege of presenting the memorabilia.

More than 40 classmates attended the reunion, many of them along with their families. All the classmates wore attractive Blue & White T-Shirts will school logo and photo.

The Class of ’69 is dispersed all over the world. Though tracing the whereabouts of the class mates has been difficult, the classmates have networked with each other to involve as many of them as possible.

Incidentally, Fr. Melwin Pinto, one of the Class of ’69, is the present headmaster of St Aloysius High School.

The classmates paid homage to their dear departed classmates: Ashok Pereira, Desmond Fernandes, Sai Manohar Sheka, Shashidhar Kamath, Norman Vas, Chidambar and Dinesh Attavar.

Sumith.S.Rao conducted the Aloysian Quiz and Daryl Andrade gave the Vote of Thanks.

The reunion was the result of a co-ordinated effort of three Mangalore-based classmates, Sumith S. Rao, Ranganath. C. Kini and Sunil Bhandary.
