Mumbai: ‘Tulu Parba-2010’ Begins with Colorful Procession

Mumbai, Jan 2: ‘Kala Jagattu’, an organization of Tuluva people in the metro, celebrated its 31st anniversary with ‘Tulu Parba-2010’ held at Buntara Bhavana on Saturday January 2. 

A colourful procession depicting Tuluva culture and tradition started from Chunnabhatti Priyadarshini Circle and was a grand start to the week-long celebration. The inaugural of the function was conducted with musical programme ‘Tulu Porlu’.  

Sri Viswapriya Teertha Swami of Udupi Pejavar Mutt inaugurated the event at Radhabai Timmappa Bhandary Hall in Buntara Bhavan. 





















Member of legislative assembly and president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Mumbai Pradesh, Gopal C Shetty, was the chief guest at the programme. President of Mathrubhoomi Sahakari Path of Bunts Sangh, Shivarama G Shetty Ajekar presided over the function.  

Social worker Mudradi Divakar Shetty was presented the ‘Kala Jagattu-2010 Award’ and Rajyostava award winner Ambathanaya Mudradi as well as several achievers in various fields were felicitated during the programme. Karnataka Sangh in Vasai was honoured for its support. 

Pernakila Haridas Bhat of Ambika Annapoorneswari Temple at Vidya Vihar, Karnire Vishwanatha Shetty, working president of education committee of Bunts Sangh,  I R Shetty, secretary of S M Shetty Group of Education Institutions, Sucharitha Hegde, managing director of  Foress Business Group, Narayana Alva, president of hotel businessmen association ‘Ahar’, Mohandas G Poojary, director of Bharath Bank, Sanjeeva N Shetty, working president of regional committee of Bunts Sangh in Navi Mumbai, and Rathnakar Shetty Mundkoor, committee member of ‘Bantara Vani’ monthly magazine, were present as guests of honour.  

At the cultural programme, Sarigamapadani team of Kala Jagattu presented ‘Tulu Porlu Sangeetostava’ while Druthi Anil Yelinje and team presented Nalike Bharathanatyam and Vasai Karnataka Sangh women presented a group dance. ‘Too Tudar’, the Tulu drama directed by Vijayakumar Shetty was presented by Kala Jagattu members.  

President of Kala Jagattu Vijaya Kumar Shetty, office-bearers R K Shetty, Krishnaraja Shetty, Surendra Kumar Hegde, Raghuveer Bhat, and others were also present. Dayasagar Chowta and Krithika Amin conducted the programme.

    Excellent.. Vijaj Kumar Shetty & Surendra Kumar Hegde are two pillars of Kalajagttu.They have done remarkable job in preserving & uplifting the heritage of Tulu culture
