Daijiworld Media Network—Mangalore (CN)

Mangalore, Jan 3: The latest dancing sensation and winner of the Rs 50 lac prize in the ‘Dance India Dance’ contest, 23-year-old Bangalorean boy Salman Khan, will be in the city on Saturday January 30 to perform at Bejai Hall from 5 pm onwards.

The show ‘Champion of Champions’ is being organized by ‘Hoomale Creations’, a Bangalore based event management firm, headed by the city’s own Sunil Shetty Kedinje.

Sunil Shetty

Hoomale Creations is  the makers of ‘Neenilade Naanilla’, ‘Jai Karnataka’, ‘Voice of Mysore’ , ‘Tulunaada Bolli’, and ‘Aparadhigalla Bete’ (upcoming TV serial), and is now for the first time in Karnataka, venturing to host the ‘mother of all dance shows’ where the winners of major TV dance shows will compete on one stage !

RJ Avinash

The city’s well-known radio jockey Avinash, who recently completed ‘Kushi Express’, a  marathon 92.7 hours of a radio show on BIG FM, will be the prime anchor of the show. Shobraj and Chaitra Shetty will assist him.

The dance stars of Karnataka who will fight for the title are:

Rashmi Kunder and Group: Rashmi is a 10-year-old dance wonder from Mangalore, who has already given over 450 shows, won over 60 awards, 8 state awards, hat-trick heroine of the famous Zee TV show ‘Kuniyona Baara’ and a finalist of the world famous Sony TV show ‘Boogie Woogie’.

Ramesh and Group: Ramesh is a famous choreographer of the Kannada industry, and is also a TV and Kannada film actor having his own dance classes and has given more then 500 shows.

Nagaraj: He is the winner of ETV’s ‘The Great Karnataka Dance League’. In this contest, there were 18 rounds and it was a very tough competition. Finally, with a mix of western and Indian classic, this dance wonder from Kaup (Udupi), emerged the winner.

Anusha and Jnana Ithaal: They are the winners of the state-level dance award (winner of ‘Kuniyona Baara’ Zee TV).

Swathi: Winner of ‘Prayog’, state-level competition organized in Mangalore.

Neha and Team: Winners of the ‘The Hindu Young World Fest-09’.

Ten other dancers (winners of ‘Sie’ (Suvarna TV), ‘Haaku Hejee Jhaaku’ (Zee Kannada) and ‘Dream Girls’ (Kasturi Channel)) will also perform.

Apart from the competition, there will be special attractions in the form of guest artistes including Salman Khan of ‘Dance India Dance’, Shivadwaj  (director/actor/producer), Suresh Rai (TV superstar), Sachin Suvarna (Bollywood actor), Ramesh (chorographer/actor), and Priyanka Chandra (actress).

Speaking to Daijiworld, Sunil Shetty said that he plans to organize such shows all over the state as this is the first of it kind in Mangalore. According to Shetty, the show is expected to encourage the city’s budding dancers to get a glimpse of dancing stars and learn from their live performances.

‘Udayavani’ will be the print media partner for the event while ‘Namma TV’ will be the television partner. BIG FM 92.7 is the radio partner and Daijiworld.com is the online media partner.

Thanks Daijiworld. Let's look forward for some kind of promotion of culture in a creative way rather than creating simply some kind of sensational stir up. All performances need to be value based, not just neutral or culturally detrimental. How will our younger generation be helped to become better builders of society rather than just better dancers?

Wishing this even a "GRAND SUCCESS". An excellent effort by Sunil Shetty Kedinje to bring forth the talent of young dancers from our very own land KARNATAKA. May there be many more such events organized. I simply adore these dance programs. Also pray that sponsors volunteer for such fruitful programs which enable the deserving to exhibit their talent. Money goes wasted in unwanted shows which have no relevance. All the Best!!!
