Karnataka government extends free travel for migrant workers by two days

Bengaluru, May 4: The state government has continued to extend large-hearted facility to migrant workers. After being criticized for the exorbitant bus charges being collected by KSRTC to carry workers in distress to their native districts, the government had announced that the workers would be extended free travel by government buses to their home districts for three days. The government has now extended free bus facility by two more days.

KSRTC managing director Shivayogi C Kalasad, said that the workers had been given an opportunity to travel by KSRTC buses free of cost from Sunday to Tuesday. He said that this period has been extended by two days. As per the revised order issued by the chief minister B S Yediyurappa, workers can travel without having to pay any charges, by KSRTC buses till Thursday, he stated.

Through a press release, Yediyurappa said that for the benefit of the workers and the people, free travel facility has been extended till Thursday. He asked the workers not to crowd the bus stands but leave for their homes in a peaceful manner.

On Sunday, 30,000 people had travelled by 951 KSRTC buses. Today, 1,500 workers left for their hometowns by government buses. 550 buses have been set aside for their travel in Bengaluru and 400 more buses in different centres in the state. On Saturday, 16,500 people had travelled by 550 buses

On Sunday, two trains left for Patna and Ranchi in Bihar. A train also moved to Bhuvaneshwar. A total of 4,800 people left for these states by four trains from here. Two more trains are leaving today for Jaipur in Rajasthan and Patna in Bihar. Before they leave, everyone is provided with free meal and water, the chief minister explained in a press statement.

    Once again Congress party high command, KPCC President D K Shivakumar decision to pay the migrant workers onward journey to the destination has forced the Karnataka BJP government to think.

    How does the state BJP government is going to pay the state transport workers if the transport is run free and how the salaries of the staff will be paid?

    For BJP without any elections this freebies is going to be very expensive deal otherwise these donation may have been utilised for 'Operation Kamala' buying opposition winning candidates to topple the government.

    Now I would request the Congress and other regional parties to donate three months of welfare fund so that they can be supportive without any jobs. Let's see will PM Modi's government is going to transfer Rs 15 lakh to every citizens account?

    Govt. must send all the transport bills to Congress committee for the reimbursement (they are so generous) and make the account public how much they donated. Somebody rightly said, at least some portion of the looted money will be used in public welfare.

    Utilize the Govt. fund for other much needed welfare activities.

    Congress is on donation Spree. Why not Govt milk all of it. Atleast some part of looted money will come back to state treasury. Migrant labors should be first filled in 2 tier, 3 tier AC and first class compartments. Invoice should be straight away faxed to poor farmer DKSHI's white house. Antonio Mai also promised to pay, so send a copy to her as well.
