Bengaluru, May 5: In view of situation on account of COVID 19 epidemic in the State coming to control, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Tuesday held discussions with representatives of builders on resumption of construction activities.

The problems pertaining to the plight of migrant workers was the main topic of concern during the discussion.

“The COVID 19 situation in the State is in control when compared to other States,’’ the Chief Minister said and pointed out that businesses, construction work and industrial activities have to be resumed barring the red containment zones.

In this background it was explained that unnecessary travel of the migrant workers has to be controlled, he emphasized.

The builders pointed out that the labourers were given all essential facilities and construction activities have already started.

Yediyurappa mentioned that directions are being given to the ministers to convince the labourers to refrain from returning to their home states. The labourers should not heed to the rumours and avoid unnecessary travel.

Issues relating to the weavers were also discussed at another meeting, when it was stated that relief measures would be taken after discussing with the officers of Finance Department.

Chief Secretary T M Vijayabhaskar, Revenue Minister R Ashok, Education Minister S Suresh Kumar and other officials were present at the meeting.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister garlanded the statue of the State’s first Chief Minister K C Reddy in front of Vidhana Soudha.

Deputy Chief Minister Govind M Karjol and members of the family of late K C Reddy were present on the occasion.
