Bengaluru: High court comes down on lockdown violation at Nikhil Kumaraswamy's marriage

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 6: The marriage of sandalwood actor, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of former chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, was performed in Ramanagara district with much fanfare even as strict lockdown rules were in force. The high court had asked the state government to file a report on the issue, after the matter went before it. The state government has now filed details of the marriage in the high court.

The said marriage was held at Ketaganahalli in Ramanagara district on April 17. On behalf of the state government, advocate Vikram Huyilagol, filed the report. The report mentions that between 80 and 95 guests including family members had taken part in the marriage and that the deputy commissioner of Ramangara district had given permission to hold the marriage. The report also mentions that everyone who attended the marriage function were provided with masks and sanitizers.

The high court which heard the case, said that the court is not concerned about the marriage itself. It observed that giving permission for participation of over 50 individuals in the marriage as per the policies of the state and central governments, is a clear violation of lockdown rules.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice of Karnataka, Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka, and Justice B V Nagaratna, which heard the case, expressed the opinion that giving permission on the above lines without proper consideration of all the aspects is dangerous.

KRPrabhu, Bangalore, you say that you are happy that HC has chided law breakers more particularly ex PM and present State CM.Its really a blot on all concerned.
May I remind kindly and politely remind that they care less and are least bothered about what HC, SC say.
Will the courts say the same thing when an ordinary citizen breaks the law?

So what? Ordinary people would have paid the price. Politicians know nothing is going to happen to them. Indian politicians want to play with the law they made for others, while they are exempted from it.

The judiciary is the last n ultimate hope for the common citizens of our nation.....We cannot have two laws, one for the high, mighty, privileged n another for law abiding, people in our society... The gross abuse of laws by a former ex-PM and an ex -CM, of Karnataka state, has not gone unnoticed... The state government, is equally culpable for aiding n abetting, violations of Lockdown rules n regulations... Hope n pray that justice will be delivered n these wilfull violators, be penalized n prosecuted !!!!
