Kitchen staff at OTA tests positive in Chennai


Chennai, May 6 (IANS): A civilian kitchen staff working in the Officers Training Academy (OTA) here has tested positive for coronavirus following which all of his contacts have been quarantined, a statement said on Wednesday.

The OTA trains officers for the Indian Army.

According to the statement, the civilian kitchen staff was admitted to a government hospital on May 3 after he complained of chest congestion.

The person tested positive for Covid-19 on May 4. As a precautionary measure, all contacts of the civilian have been quarantined.

Presently there are no cadets at the OTA, which is functioning with minimal staff.

One batch of cadets had recently passed out and the other batch undergoing training is presently on term break since March 8.
