PM Modi holds emergency meeting on Andhra gas leak

New Delhi, May 7 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called a meeting with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) officials on Thursday in the wake of a gas leak incident in Andhra Pradesh.

"In the wake of the situation in Visakhapatnam, PM Narendra Modi has called for a meeting of the NDMA at 11 am," stated the Prime Minister's Office.

Modi will interact with senior officers of NDMA and is likely to direct them to lay down policies for disaster management.

Over 10 persons, including children, died while thousands of others reported sick after a gas leaked from the LG Polymers India plant at RR Venkatapuram village on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam.

Around 300 people have been rushed for treatment to hospitals after complaining of breathing difficulties, and burning sensation in the eyes.

Modi took to Twitter and said: "Talked to officials of MHA and NDMA regarding the situation in Visakhapatnam, which is being monitored closely."

He also prayed for everyone's safety and well-being in Visakhapatnam.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also said that the incident is disturbing.

In the period from 2004 to 2009, former PM Dr Manmohan Singh, in the course of his 35 foreign trips, had visited 28 countries. Dr Singh, in his second term (2009-2014), visited 35 nations, taking his overall tally to 63 countries over two terms and ten years. If multiple visits are counted, this number stands at 96. In contrast, PM Modi has visited 59 countries from 2014 to 2019 in the course of his 49 international trips.

Ha ha Ha. Burnol moment for Ghulams. If all you said was true, KHANgress would not have been reduced to 52. Pappu Khan would not have been booted out by a lady of all the people in his 80 year old family bastion Amethi and fled down south Kerala to win on ''you know whose' votes. Like someone said a chewing gum called 'EVM' was given by the KHANgress to its ghulams to chew for the next 5 years, so the losers can contest again.
