Man, Russian girlfriend held while sneaking to Shimla


Shimla, May 7 (IANS): A man from Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district and his Russian girlfriend, who were planning to solemnize marriage, were arrested while trying to sneak into the state capital in a truck amid the imposition of curfew to contain coronavirus, the police said.

The duo was arrested at Shoghi town, some 15 km from here on the Chandigarh-Shimla national highway, on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Omapati Jamwal said.

They were coming from Noida in Uttar Pradesh with curfew pass and hiding themselves in the truck.

They were planning to get married on reaching bridegroom's hometown Nirmand in Kullu district.

The truck driver and the cleaner were arrested.

The Russian woman has been quarantined at a centre in Dhalli whereas the three men have been quarantined in Shoghi itself.
