Mangalore : Austin Prabhu's 'Vozram' - Now Available for Sale

Mangalore, Jan 9: Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu, Chicago, USA is a well known personality among Mangalorean Konkani Catholic Community worldwide. Because of his talents, humorous nature and generosity he has gained a large number of friends circle in India and abroad.
His latest Konkani book “VOZRAM” brought out by ‘MARIADS PRAKASHAN’, Mangalore in Kannada Script was released in Mangalore by Albert W. D’Souza, Managing Director of Printania Offset Pvt. Ltd., and Chairman of St John Engineering and St. John Pharmacy Colleges, Mumbai on 29th December 2009 at a glittering ceremony held at Hotel Deepa Comforts, Mangalore.
The book contains 3500 limerics (chutuks or small poems) on various topics. Chutuks are of full of wisdom with rich vocabulary. Austin has made use of all ‘Navarasas’ ( 9 types of emotional feelings - Shrungaara, Haasya, Karuna, Raudra, Bheebhatsa, Bhayanaka, Adbhuta, Veera, Shaantha) while composing these chutuks. These chutuks are definitely touch the hearts of readers.
All chutuks have been serialized according to English alphabetical order and can be easily quoted in talks, while conducting programmes and during toast raising, parties and picnics.
The book contains altogether 365 pages with good quality paper. About 100 chutuks contain illustrative pictures (cartoons). The attractive cover page and cartoons have been created by the noted Konkani artist – ‘Pinto Vamanjoor’. Well known poet ‘HM Pernal’ has written the preface. Cyril G. Sequeira (CGS Taccode) has introduced Austin in his own humorous way. The book is dedicated to pioneer of Konkani journalism and the first Mangalorean Konkani novelist the late Jo. Sa. Alvares (his colour photo is printed). The book contains recent photograph of Austin’s family. The book is printed at ‘Printania Offset Pvt. Ltd.’, Mumbai, one of the best quality printing house in India.
Though heavy expenditure incurred, the book is priced at Rs. 250/- only, so as to be affordable to common man. Only a limited number of copies have been printed.
