Mumbai, May 11: A video was shared by the BJP legislator showing a COVID-19 patient occupying a bed next to a body at Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali on Sunday.
Earlier this week, Rana had shared a similar video of Sion hospital’s isolation facility where four corpses were seen lying on cots and stretchers next to COVID-19 patients. After the video went viral, the hospital’s dean, Dr Pramod Ingle was asked to step down from the position by the BMC.
The video that emerged on Sunday showed a male patient on oxygen support, complaining of the doctors not checking on him regularly. He also claimed that the body of another patient on the bed next to his had not been taken away by the hospital authorities.
Dr Pramod Nagarkar, the superintendent of the Shatabdi Hospital said that the incident took place early on Saturday morning. He claimed that the body was on the bed because the relatives of the dead patients were fighting with the doctors and sisters and took an hour to accept the body. Once they did, the body was shifted to the morgue with the due protocol of disposal, he added. The complaints of the patient in the video were addressed by Sunday.
Meanwhile, the inquiry report of why bodies were occupying cots in a ward with patients in Sion hospital is yet to be submitted to the BMC. Dr RN Bharmal, who was appointed the dean of the hospital last week said that he had just joined the post and is yet to receive the report. He assured that it shall be submitted in a day.
