Mumbai: Olympian Vandana Rao Inaugurates Koti – Chennaya Athletic Meet – 2010

Mumbai, Jan 10: Koti – Chennaya Athletic Meet – 2010, an annual athletic meet by metro-based Billavara Association was inaugurated at Goregaon Sports Club grounds, Malad (West), here on Sunday January 10. 

Olympian athlete and Arjuna award recipient Vandana Rao and MLA Krishna Hegde inaugurated the Koti – Chennaya Athletic Meet – 2010. 

Vandana P Rao addressing the gathering said that Koti – Chennya, the legendary icons of Tulunadu convey the strength that lies in unity among Billava community. The traditional sport is the art that promotes sound mind and body. The age does not matter while it’s essential to promote the sports event, said Olympian Vandan Rao. 

MLA Krishna Hegde said that the athletic meet serves to show the strength and unity of community. He urged the competitors in order to partake in sports with the spirit that promotes unity and brotherhood.
























Billavara Association and All India Billava Federation president Jaya C Suvarna presided. Deputy mayor Shailaja Girkar was the chief guest. Renowned eye surgeon Dr Shyam Agarwa was the guest of honour.  

Association honorary president Y Nagesh, vice-president L V Amin, M B Kukyan and C T Salian, honorary chief secretary Jyothi K Suvarna, honorary chief treasurer Uday S Salian, joint secretaries U Dhananjay Kumar, Mohandas G Poojary and Dhananjay S Kotian, joint treasurers Ganesh M Billava, Mahesh Karkala, Dharmapal G Anchan and Rajesh J Bangera, Seva Dal chief Ganesh K Poojary, women wing president Jayanti V Ullal, youth wing president Premanath P Kotian and honorary secretary Ravindra A Amin among others were present. 

Association vice-president Nithyanand D Kotian and joint secretary Dharmesh S Salian compered the programme.
