Kasaragod, Jan 11: “Reservation should allow all the communities in the country to develop equally and it will bring social justice”, said A P Aboobakkar Musliyar, general secretary, Sunni Jamyithul Ulama, Kantapuram, at the 40th annual conference of Jamia Sadiya Arabiya Instituitons at Deli, near here.

Speaking on the occasion, Musliyar said that reservation through the constitution has existed in India from the past 59 years but it is not given to backward communities to help them reach the level of the majority community.

“Twenty percent of the majority community in India has covered 60 percent of employment, but the backward community, which is more in ratio is just enjoying 20 percent of jobs in government departments”, he said.

“The reservation proposed in Kerala on the basis of economical background is not good”, Musliyar said, adding that each community should be given social justice with equality.

He also expressed his resentment against the statements blaming terrorism on the Muslim community and said that the entire community should not be blamed for the mistakes of a few.

“The terrorists cannot be controlled by law but it can be done with the help of religious education and through teaching morality”, said Musliyar.

The students of Jamiya Sa-adiyya Arabic College were presented certificates in the convocation ceremony. The five-day programme began on Wednesday January 6 and ended with the convocation.

Religious leaders, Ulemas from Kerala and Karnataka states, were also present on the occasion. An exhibition ‘Exotica-10’, was also arranged at the venue.

I fully support Fathima in this case. Why only men are allowed to gather at this event? I am not a muslim to comment upon, but a human. Sabith, for your info, where it is written that this public programme is for men only? Also to you Badruddin, this is not a religious gathering, but a conference by an institute on reservations !!

Are you people afraid of women? Dont they have the full rights to know about reservations and other important discussions they held at the gathering? If you see any contracts or agreements, there is a clause saying that gender written in agreement either as male or female shall be construed as though applied for both genders and not only for one gender. Hope you got what I mean.

Nasser Siddiqui Jubail, If you are calling your fellow Muslims Dajjalis, what will you call non-Muslims? You may be Salafi, Jamath, Tabliqi or Shia but you do not have any right to decide who is Muslim or not once a person accepts Islam. You practice your faith, let them practice their faith or if you feel they are wrong, enlighten them. Be a Muslim first before you comment others. Fathima, Leave Muslim women alone, if they have any problem, they will raise it. I don't think it is fair to poke your nose in other's business. For your information, Muslim women enjoy the greatest freedom and right than any other woman in this world - I challenge. Neither ignorance is a bliss nor idiocity is a defense any more, try to understand other religions as well.

I have always been a staunch opponent of caste-based & religion-based job reservations, which will only lead to increase in fragmentation of society and jeolousy among communities. Moreover, it is also against the core idea of democracy - EQUALITY. Therefore, any reservation,if at all, must only be given as per economic status irrespective of caste or religion, and that too only for education. Jobs must be filled as per merit and not as per surname, irrespective of religion or casTe. It is the government's responsibility to ensure that democracy's core idea of equality is not compromised to satify any ive groups.

Rehman Konaje, Dubai agreed to your point of view. But, who listen to our concerns. To whom you are addressing are not able to read your comments or in case if they read they will ignore it. There is no use in discussing such issues which will not give any constructive results. Better be as it is than making more complicated. I appreciate Sister Famina’s concerns. Islam has given equal rights to women but, Allah defined they are different from men in few aspects. Muslim women should come forward and ask their rights as prescribed by Holy Quran and Hadiths. For example: Muslim women’s demand for Mahar instead of Dowry (There is no practice of dowry in Islam, but we have adopted from other cultures)

All said and done without mentioning the rights and equality of muslim women. All those community leaders who exclude muslim women from their community gatherings and deliberately ignore their rights under false pretext are in reality disrespecting the fifty percent of humanity. Why are we heading towards direction of past?

All good. But one thing is always annoying me that this AP & EK fights. There is no unity among the sunnis' especially in Kerala. Here also in the same day there is one more Organisation namely Jamia Nooriya which is running by EK Groups. This convention was also in the same day. So, imagine the intensification of fight between these two groups. If these Ulemas' came together then, I think there is no any difficulty in merging these two groups and bringing unity in sunnis'.

But it is very sad to know that these ulema's ego is not leaving to do any good thing. I am not blaming all but some of the ulemas' are after their own benefit and convenience. they are not ready to sacrifice anything for the sake of whole muslim mankind. Come on Ulemas. stop this. Stay together in the Sunni label. Forget this AP - EK.

Illiteracy is the greatest blindness, and that is the strongest barricade in developing character, prosperity and peace. A very few educated people may act like animals, but the percentage of edicated people acting like normal and law-abiding is the highest. When the government discriminate people on the basis of their religious status, it is the worst kind of discrimination.

Religion is a personal matter to be chosen, and nobody should be discriminated based on religion. Atheism is a religion, but the atheists are not discriminated, however the some other minority religions are deliberately discriminated. When these minority people are not given the opportunity for education, we are creating mammoth problems in the society.

Kerala is an example of how the Ulemas or the learned scholars in Islamic theology encourage peaceful co-existence & modern education to the Muslim children. Though their outlook is like Osama Bin Laden with long beard but they are all peace loving scholars and truly the practicing Muslims.
