Mangalore: Corp Bank CGM A Mohan Rao Passes Away

Mangalore, Jan 12: Corporation Bank chief general manager A Mohan Rao (57) passed away following a cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Mumbai on Monday January 11.
He complained of chest pain On Monday morning after which he was admitted to Asian Heart Hospital at Bandra-Kurla Complex. However, Rao failed to respond to the treatment and died in the night. Rao, who had been to New Delhi on an official trip on Friday last had returned to Mumbai on Sunday.
Rao is survived by wife, Jyotsna and two sons, Karthik and Koushik. His body will be brought to Mangalore on Tuesday January 12.
Education and Career
Alape Mohan Rao had his schooling in Ganapathi High School here after which he graduated from St Aloysius College and went on to get a postgraduate degree from Mangalore University.
Rao’s banking career began as an officer with Vijaya Bank. He joined Corporation Bank in 1977. After serving in various capacities as an officer, he was soon promoted as general manager. He has served departments such as retail advancing, corporate communications and staff and human resource management among others during his career.
He was promoted as chief general manager in December 2009. Known as a great officer, he was the recipient of several corporate awards and also member of chairman club for 15 years. He was also a known figure in the social, cultural and religious field. Pejawar Mutt senior seer Vishweshateertha Swamiji, Dharmastala dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Hggade, District In-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar, Kannada Sahitya Parishad (KSP) Dakshina Kannada president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and KSP former president Harikrishna Punaroor among others have condoled his death.
