14 more test Covid positive in Kerala, 101 under treatment


Thiruvananthapuram, May 17 (IANS): Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday that 14 new cases of coronavirus were detected in the state, taking the total number of active cases under treatment to 101.

"Of these two came from abroad, 10 are from within the country," Vijayan said in a Facebook post.

As on date, 497 people have been cured of coronavirus in the state.

Vijayan also said that at present, there are 61,855 people under observation in homes while 674 are in various hospitals.

With one more hotspot being registered on Sunday, the total in the state has risen to 23.

In a related development, the state government on Sunday announced those interested to opt for paid quarantine can do it and for that they have come out with a list of 169 hotels with 4617 rooms across the state.

Those opting for it can book their room through the Norka-Roots web portal.

With more and more Kerala diaspora and those who were stuck in neighbouring states arriving everyday, the number of positive patients for the first time in a few weeks has crossed 100.

In this context, the state authorities which by now has eased the lockdown norms in many districts, is now waiting for the new guidelines of the Lockdown 4 norms to come from the centre to draw up their own rules.
