Chandigarh, May 17 (IANS): More than 160,300 migrant workers have boarded Special Shramik trains as well as buses to take them to their home states at the expense of the Haryana government, an official said.
A government spokesperson said that on May 16 migrant workers were sent to Uttar Pradesh and other states through three trains and 492 buses.
He said the migrant workers have been sent through more than 3,100 buses till date, out of which 781 buses were sent to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
Similarly, 40 Shramik trains ferried the migrants to Bihar and Madhya Pradesh till date, including 28 trains to Bihar and 12 to Madhya Pradesh.
He said 75,600 migrant labourers have been sent from the state to Uttar Pradesh, 37,866 migrant labourers to Bihar, 14,940 to Uttarakhand, and 19,982 to Madhya Pradesh.
The state government, led by the Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, is committed to ensure that the willing migrant workers reach their home states.
