Kuwait, January 16: Karnataka Muslim Welfare Association (KMWA) has elected Hasan Yusuf as new president for the next two-year term in a general body meeting held to elect new president at Masjid Al-Sanad Hall Khaitan here, recently. Hasan Yusuf is from Mangalore and was general secretary of KMWA from the inception of KMWA. As per the practice, election process was lead by office-bearers of Indian Muslim Association, as KMWA is subsidiary of Indian Muslim Association (IMA).
Accordingly Mohammed Aslam, president of IMA and Iqbal Ahmad, head of press and publicity of IMA were present during the election session. KMWA is subsidiary of IMA and president is elected from among the members of IMA from various parts of Karnataka.
During the election session outgoing president of KMWA Sharafuddin B S gave introductory speech, briefed about the activities of KMWA, and compered the programme. It was decided during the meeting to call subsequent meeting of members of KMWA next week to elect office-bearers of KMWA. KMWA has members from all over Karnataka, India. It is striving for the cause of supporting social welfare activities and promoting harmonious relationship among various religious and cultural groups of Karnataka.
