Mangalore, Jan 22: Ivan D’Souza, lawyer, notary, and president of Auto Rickshaw Owners and Drivers Association launched the ‘Mahindra Gio’, India’s first compact truck, at the showroom of Mahindra’s exclusive dealer Karnataka Agencies in Kottara Chowki, on Thursday January 21.

The Gio is India’s first four-wheel diesel truck with a payload capacity of 500 kgs.  It has the potential to create a new market segment.

It can give a mileage of 27 kms per litre, has low maintenance cost and power steering to maneuver in minimum space, the comforts of a car, and many more features for smooth driving.  It is likely to revolutionize sales of light cargo carriers.

It also has a crumple-free zone and semi-forward cabin for the safety of the driver.

Mahindra Gio is sold across the country in showrooms at a uniform price of Rs 1.65 lac.
