Dubai: Narayana Samithi Organises 'Akhanda Bhajan Mahotsav'
Media Release by Shailesh Shenoy

Dubai, Jan 24: It was in late 2006 that a few friends got together with a common aim for a social cause, to do their bit for the needy.  February 2007 saw the first organized campaign by the 'Narayana Seva Samithi' providing monthly dry rations to labour camps in Dubai.  Since then, many more volunteers joined hands and the Seva activities increased manifold.

To mark the anniversary of the Samithi, the volunteers organize an "Akhanda Bhajan Mahotsav" in January every year.  This year, the 3rd Akhanda Bhajan Mahotsav was held on 22nd January, at the Karama Center auditorium, Dubai.  Various Bhajan Mandals and Satsang groups from all over the U.A.E. participated in this day-long event.

The programme began at 6 am with the lighting of the Akhanda Jyoti which was placed in the center of a delightfully bright and colourful rangoli.  The pooja manta was magnificently adorned with coconuts and garlands of a huge variety of beautiful, fresh flowers.

The Narayana Seva Samithi was the first to make an offering of melodious bhajans praising the Lord, and was followed by Vishwakarma group, Sri Raaja Rajeshwari Bhakta Vrinda, Sharjah Satsangh group, AbuDhabi Amchigele Samaj, Brahma Sabha, Sannidhanam and the Art of Living Group. Samithi volunteers lead the chant during the Mangala arati around 7pm, and later distributed Mahaprasad to all devotees.

This auspicious and unique event was successful in lighting the lamp of wisdom and love in the heart of everyone present, and its ennobling and unifying effect was felt by one and all.

We should appreciate that Islamic countries are becoming more religious tolerant than our own country. May God bless the leaders of Gulf countries.
