Rahul speaks up for poor migrants, asks govt for financial help

New Delhi, May 28 (IANS): Speaking at Congress' 'Speak Up India' campaign on Thursday to take the voice of the poor, migrants, small businesses and the middle class to the Central government, Rahul Gandhi said: "India does not need debt, India needs money."

The former Congress President said: "People need money. Every poor should be given Rs 7,500 for six months. MGNREGA should be extended for 200 days, MSMEs should be given a financial package and migrant workers walking back should be given proper transportation."

The Congress campaign has asked all party workers to go online and raise the demands of the poor and migrants.

"Due to Covid-19, a storm has come in India, the poor have been hurt most. Migrant workers have to walk hungry for hundreds of kilometres across the country and the MSMEs, which provide jobs to crores of people, are shutting down," Rahul Gandhi said.

The Congress asked its workers to start the campaign at 11 a.m. and demand that all migrants are provided transport to reach home safely. The party workers have also been told to demand raising employment days to 200 under MGNREGA, an immediate financial help of Rs 10,000 to the poor and a financial package for small industries.

The online campaign includes messages through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube accounts.

These are the same people who left in the lurch and made to fend for themselves now, took their empty vessel's, and banged in the streets and lit the lamps in support of Modi's call . hoping the best to come anticipating Acchhe Din.

GOI is totally bankrupt for ideas that work. Rahul Gandhi's advice to increase MNREGA days to 200; NYAY amount to be credited to the migrant's bank account Rs 7500 and to provide transportation to the migrants immediately.
The tragic plight of migrants our fellow citizens who lived a life of dignity and honour is now reduced to poverty. Most inhuman way of an irresponsible Government of India dealing with fellow citizens who voted them to power.

Migrant workers are really in problem and somehow Governments need to help them. Here the question is not the state or centre, the question is no co-ordination between any Governments. The central Government is directionless and blaming continuously opposition. Opposition is pressuring on one issue continuously that means they might have studied the idea and might be successful. If ruling Government emberrased with the same idea they can change the name or do some other calculations and transfer cash to the peoples account.
One more thing the peoples who celebrated thali and Diya middle class salaried people will also will be in same line in coming days if the companies where they were working not open for business without labours.

This is deaf government. Not bothered about migrants or poor.

We have a PM who did not issue a single statement when migrants were in distress. He used to tweet even for small things but here he remained silent and humanity in him was completely missing.

Lakhs of people walked thousands of kilometer to reach home but some could not make it and died on their way. This included pregnant women, children and elderly. Pradhan Sevak did not come to their rescue in anyway. Not even water was provided on their way but they were threatened, beaten up by police at some places. This walk was no less than walk during partition of India.

We people need to do something as the leadership of the country is missing. Let us do our bit to help our brothers and sisters through the social organisations.

Please start helping the poor in Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan etc... People are feeling helpless in your ruled states. Atleast show your leadership skills now by leading your CM's rather than playing politics with BJP.

Why don't you come down from Dubai and help them with your Dirhams??????.....It will be a big help if BJP govt accepts defeat and steps down so that it is much easier to help these people. Don't sit in Dubai and order congress to do your job. BJP is nothing without Rahul Gandhi's advice and BJP is accepting and appreciating it.
