Rahul condoles death of former Chhattisgarh CM Ajit Jogi

New Delhi, May 29 (IANS): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday condoled the death of Chhattisgarh's first Chief Minister Ajit Jogi.

"I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Ajit Jogi, a former parliamentarian and Chhattisgarh's first Chief Minister. My condolences to his family, friends and followers in this time of grief. May he rest in peace," Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

Jogi died of a cardiac arrest in a hospital in Chhattisgarh's Raipur on Friday at the age of 74.

Jogi was admitted to the hospital on May 9 after a heart attack but slipped into a coma the next day.

Jogi had quit the Indian Administrative Service to join politics and was an MLA from the Marwahi region. He became the first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh when it was carved out of Madhya Pradesh in 2000.
