Bengaluru: BJP dissidence - Congress to keep distance from both factions

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 30: The Congress has realized that the anger that has been kindled within the BJP against the chief minster (CM) may soon develop into a major problem in that party soon. However, it has decided not to get involved with this activity in any way and to keep distance from both the BJP factions for the present.

The Congress expects the revolt to get to the level of major dissidence like the one that had arisen against Yediyurappa's leadership in 2008. The opposition parties have estimated that the differences which have cropped now will develop into a deep crevice between the two sides in about six months’ time and that the government will collapse on its own. At the same time, the Congress feels that it is not worth the effort to fuel the differences, but instead, it wants to strengthen the organizational base of the party to brighten the party's chances, sources in the Congress said.

D K Shivakumar

The mood is buoyant in the Congress with D K Shivakumar at the state's helm. After D K Shivakumar and three working presidents officially take over charge on June 7, the party will roll out a scheme to strengthen its base in this state, it is learnt.

Water resources minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, said that he has discussed the issue with his friend, Umesh Katti, on Thursday. He said he does not know what kind of dissent Katti has, but assured that discussing issues does not tantamount to dissidence. He said he will make efforts to see that the BJP not only completes this term, but gets elected again for the next one.

Congress state working president Ishwar Khandre, said that none of the Congress legislators will cross over to the BJP and reasoned that MLAs from Kalyana Karnataka area are revolting as the government has done injustice to that area. Addressing press conferences at the party offices at Yadagiri and Raichur towns on Friday, he said that dissidence is blazing in the BJP and that the Congress will not make efforts to topple the BJP government. He said if the government falls on its own, the party leadership will take suitable decisions.

Deputy chief minister Dr Ashwath Narayan, felt that Congress is daydreaming about the fall of the BJP government. Minister K S Eshwarappa, said that there is no need to attach any importance to claims of Umesh Katti as he is not even a legislator. Rajya Sabha member Dr Prabhakar Kore, said that the government is on solid ground. Political secretary of the chief minister M P Renukacharya, advised detractors of the CM to shelve all their activities now as tackling of coronavirus has been topmost issue now. JD(S) MLA H D Revanna, said that no BJP MLAs have contacted him on the issue as reported in some quarters, and that he is not interested in the post of the deputy chief minister. Minster Basavaraj Bommai, said that legislators coming together for lunch cannot be dubbed as dissidence.

The 'Operation Kamala' is the mockery of democracy and against the voters rights. More than political parties it is the Indian Judiciary system has legalized the corruption within the political parties through the defection. At the same time re-election due to the defections has cost the additional burden on the common man.
By analogy, we have anti-corruption laws, but they have not discouraged political or bureaucratic corruption.
Unless there 'anti-defection law' bars the the individual or his immediate family members from contesting an election this corruption will remain forever.
The Supreme Court should bear the responsibility of its last decision on Karnataka horse trading that legalized the corruption in political system.

For the court voters rights is less importance than the saving parties.

What goes around comes around. And yes it is a wise mive from Congress. And one thing, every politician involved in this dirty politics at this point of time, should be barred from politics forever. They should have realised that this is not the time. But thats what BJP is all about. Careless, audacious, selfish.

Good decision by Congress and DKS. Let BSY rule for the full term. You work very hard to make Congress a strong party. Surely in the next Assembly elections your party will win and you will be the CM. People are watching the developments keenly these days and will vote accordingly in the next Assembly election. Let our vibrant democracy survive. All the best. Jai Hind.

If the Government is going to fall also, center will declare fresh election after 6 months. And Covid19 is the best reason to postpone the election. Central and state governor will set according to their plan. Then they declare election.

The present BJP Govt in Karnataka is a Resort political Govt that subverted the will of the people through financial inducements and threats of Income Tax, ED and CBI. It is nice the Congress has stated a non interference policy to the bickerings in the BJP Govt.

The Congress is in safe hands of Sree Shivkumar and the three working Presidents and will free Karnataka from this unwanted Govt.

Do you think the Govt formed in 2018 by Appa maga and Khangress is morally right? Then don't talk about the present Govt. At least this Govt has full majority of single party and high command has fill control over state matters. Where was during 15 months of coilation nobody was in control of the Govt. Daily appa maga give one statement and nidderamayya gives quite opposite statement

Perfect decision by DKS. These are parasites and cannot be trusted for a second. They are into politics only for money and power and to loot the public. I am not a BJP nor a Yeddi fan, but during his second innings as CM he has been performing quietly without arrogance and confrontation. He is doing his job, but these parasites probably are not able to fill their rotten pockets, which is why they are rebelling. Keep them far away DKS and let them perish on their own.
