Moodbidri, Jan 29: Local MLA, K Abhaychandra Jain, has requested the state government to bring the town, which is not only a pilgrimage centre, but a fast-developing education hub, within the jurisdiction of the newly formed Mangalore Commissionerate.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday January 27, he felt that the people of the town and surrounding areas will suffer, if it is not brought under the commissionerate. The office of the deputy commissioner in Mulky, which governs Moodbidri, falls under Puttur, to where the office of the superintendent of police will be relocated. “If this place is brought within the commissionerate, we will be able to get additional policemen, traffic police station and circle inspector. I have already spoken to the home minister, Krishna Palemar and Nalin Kumar Kateel about these advantages and got their assurance,” he said.
