Mangalore, Jan 29: Bhadragiri Achyutadas, maestro of Harikatha will be conferred Malpe Shankaranarayana Samaga Award for 2009. The award ceremony will be held at the Town Hall here on Sunday January 31 at 3.30 pm.
Kalkura Prathishthana, a cultural foundation has instituted the award in the name of freedom fighter and Yakshagana doyen Samaga and it carries a gold medal, citation and memento. Litterateur Erya Lakshminarayan Rao will preside over the ceremony and district in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar will present the award to Harikatha doyen. The programme will be inaugurated by MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik.
As part of the ceremony, Valimoksha – Sri Krishna Karunya, a Yakshagana episode will be held from 2.30 pm to 8.30 pm that will see participation of great artistes of the field.
