Mangalore: Fake Currency Racket Busted – Six Held

Mangalore, Jan 29: City north (Bunder) police halted an operation of distribution of fake currency near Carstreet and arrested six involved on Thursday January 27.

Six arrested have been identified as Baarul Islam alias Raja (22), Kishore Singh (21), Shobha Topu (20), Prabharani Topu (20), Ranjan Sasani (19 and Santosh Sasani (20), all hailing from Assam. The members were found attempting to distribute 24 fake notes of face value Rs 1,000 in all worth Rs 24,000, which have been seized. The profit of Rs 7,000 made distributing the fake notes too has been seized. 



It is alleged that Zakir from Chennai was the distributor of fake notes to the arrested. The members used to make a profit of Rs 300 for a fake note circulated at the rate of 30% as commission, confessed the arrested.

Sub-inspector Manjunath K R and his team undertook the operation headed by Inspector Vinay A Gaonkar.
