Mangaluru: ‘Rs 600 crore revenue loss from temples during lockdown’ - Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jun 1: Muzrai minister Kota Srinivas Poojary informed that the temples that come under the Muzrai department have incurred a loss of Rs 600 crore due to the lockdown announced in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking at a press conference, Poojary said, "In Kollur temple alone, Rs 14 crore loss is incurred in the months of April and May. Around 35% of annual income is lost in A and B grade temples of the state.”

Regarding the onset of monsoon, he said that all precautions are taken to prevent loss of life and property due to the heavy rain that is expected to lash Dakshina Kannada district.

"The health department of district administration of Dakshina Kannada has taken necessary measures to face the calamity that might occur due to the cyclone. In some areas, artificial flood has been already reported," he said.

    God is everywhere.

So, honestly I can't understand why people go to particular places to pray.

People can sit and pray at home and God will listen.

Of course, if people pray at home the Government can't collect a paisa from the temples.

    What do you say Cynthia?

Mangalurean,. God is everywhere...every breath that we take too...we have been praying at home ever since the doors of religious places are shut. God doesn't take one rupee also even it there are heaps of money. Instead, He sees the heap of faith, trust and what type of devotion you have...!!... people bribe God..if you give me this favor in return i will do this...prayer works on the basis of conditions apply..."ifs" and "buts"....

All businesses are prone to risk. However, it was established that religion is the only business without risk - minimum investment, maximum profit. But COVID-19 proved it wrong. Religion business also can go into loss.

We are not permitted to eat .. let them atleast relish it... And churches use the money to contruct schools which provide quality education. And renowation and construction of churches or halls... When a family in church has a need they provide assistance... All our wedding, baptism, death documentation is preserved... So nothing much remains .

And mosque have their own charitable activities and they don't collect much donations...

And cow is an animal not God. . and we will enjoy eating it..beef it's banned in Karnataka we will take a general ticket go to kasargod eat n come back...

We eat pork but muslims don't comment then y do u ppl complain... If u don't want to eat don't eat.. nobody's forcing u

This cannot be termed as 'revenue loss' where there no transaction due to global pandamic!
Govt can think to reduce all MLAs MPs all allowances, which was not required at all for 2-3months, doing so Govt can announce additional salaries to Police and Health care departments on humanitarian basis..take little more extra from dks, chidambaram like big corrupties
