Udupi, Jan 30:
“A master plan has been prepared by the state administration to develop the Kunjarugiri temple located in pristine surroundings, near here, and the proposal is likely to be approved in the forthcoming budget”, said district-in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya.

He was speaking at the inaugural of the newly-built dining facility at Kunjarugiri Sri Durge Temple on Friday January 29.  The work on the dining facility was undertaken at a cost of Rs 1 crore.

“Meanwhile, all essential facilities will be provided at the temple with a view of making it one of the leading worship centres in the country”, added Dr Acharya.

Sri Vishwapriyateerta Swami of Adamar Mutt inaugurated the facility.  Speaking on the occasion, Swami Vishwapriyateerta said that the hard-earned income of hundreds and thousands of devotees has gone towards the development of many worship centres in the coastal district.

“God’s grace is essential for executing any task.  The development work should not hamper the eco-environment and the people residing nearby”, he added.

Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, in his presidential address, said that owing to the development at Kunjarugiri Sri Durge Temple the access roads in its periphery were broadened and asphalted, bringing relief to motorists and pilgrims alike.

Udupi–Chikmagalur MP Sadananda Gowda, Maharashtra MLAs Gopal Shetty and Krishna Hegde, Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary, local MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Kurkalu gram panchayat president Mahesh Shetty, Mira–Dahanu Bunts Sangh president Shankar Shetty Virar, and Mumbai committee president Shanker Shetty were the chief guests on the occasion.

Temple renovating committee executive president Venkataramana Mucchintaya welcomed the gathering.  Welcome committee president Shivaram Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.  Devdas Hebbar and Prasad Rao compered the programme.

Its good move and the income must be spent on devotees and for the beautification of surroundings and maintenance of nature. Its very good place and I love it with all sincerity. But please stop promoting manu culture. God created everyone equal and at par. No body is superior. A man with good soul and good deeds is closer to God. Closeness and piety is achieved by deeds and not by birth. Let a part of income be dedicated to social upliftment and abolition of untouchability. Jai Hindustan and Vande mataram.

This is a nice and peaceful temple with a scenic surroundings. As it is it looks beautiful. If more concrete is poured then it may lose the charm of that natural granite. I love this place as it is in the village I was born and brought up.
