Bellary: Siddu Holds Corruption Responsible for Collapse of Complex

Daijiworld Media Network – Bellary (SP)

Bellary, Feb 1: Leader of the opposition in the state assembly, Siddaramaiah, directly held the commissioner of the local city corporation and the senior officials in the town planning department for the collapse of an apartment complex in Gandhinagar area in the city. “This is a clear example where over 12 people have died because of the negligence and corruptive practices of the officials,” he commented.

Addressing a press conference after visiting the spot of the tragedy on Sunday January 31, he demanded for registering criminal cases against the erring officials and to dismiss them from service.

“There have been gross violations relating to construction of multi-storied buildings. This is the second incident in the state in terms of gravity, after the crash of the Gangaram Building in Bangalore,” he felt.

He did not forget to heap criticisms on the BJP government in the state again for making merry in the name of King Krishnadevaraya, at a time when tragedy had struck the district. “In the name of the erstwhile king, the BJP made merry by spending public money. They could have postponed the festival, at least. The Chief Minister is wrong in claiming that he organized Hampi Utsav as the RSS leadership had asked him to do so. Even when north Karnataka was reeling under floods, Yeddyurappa had found time to spend in Suttur Mutt in Mysore. He does not keep his words. But, he is honest in looting the people,” he criticized.
