Doha : ATS Wins  Tulu Koota Kabbadi Tournament

Doha: Feb 5 : Tulu Koota Qatar organized its 2nd Kabbadi tournament at the Al-Ahamed Bin Hanbal Secondary School play grounds on Friday the 5th February 2010 . Tulu Koota president Ravi Shetty welcomed the gathering and declared the tournament open.

Tulu Koota executive committee, Ex-President Prakash Ajila, ICBF General Secretary Divakar Poojary, Karnataka Sangha Qatar President Arun Kumar, Mangalore Cricket Club President Alwyn D’souza and Indian Cultural Centre - Head of activities Milan Arun were also present at the opening ceremony.





























 

Results:

KSQ  vs Tulu Koota - KSQ won the match by 7 points (KSQ-26 points and Tulu Koota-19 points)

ATS vs Euro - ATS won the match by 7 points  (ATS-22 points and Euro -15 points)

MCC  vs HANNAN - MCC won the match by 14 points (MCC-43 points and HANNAN-29 points)

United vs  DEEM - United won the match by 9 points (United-37 points and DEEM-28 points)

First semi final:  KSQ vs  MCC - KSQ won by 18 points
(KSQ-59 points and MCC-41 points)

Second semi final : ATS vs United - ATS won the match by 3 points (ATS-29 points and United-26 Points)

Advanced Technical Services (ATS) won the finals  beating Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) by 6 points.

The final match was indeed a nail biting match and both teams performed well till the last moment.

Prize distribution and closing ceremony was held after the final match in the evening. Akshatha Hegde,  welcomed the gathering and gave the details of the Kabbadi tournament. Chief Guest of the evening M.R.Quresh , 2nd Secretary at the Indian Embassy, in his address  mentioned that the game which had its origin in India is now played in various other parts of the world. He also  distributed the prizes and the winning trophy.

ATS Winning Team Members were Captain Ramesh Gowda, Vasanth, Sharath, Bharath, Sandeep Rai, Sunil Rai, Raghavendra, Shivakumar Rai, Thular Chandra Rai, Chandrashekar and the team manager Sudhir Shetty.
KSQ Runner-up Team Members were Captain Anil Boloor, Ravi Urwa, Anaba Raju, Lancy, Faisal, Ashwin, Tyagaraj, Kamal, Clement, Deepak, Team Manager Arun Kumar and the Team Advisor Sanjay Kudri.

Best Catcher of the tournament was Chandrshekar from ATS and the Best Raider and the Best All rounder was Ravi Urwa.

Score Keepers of the tournament were Sandesh, Sudhir Kotian, Prakash Rao, Vivian D’souza and Seetharam  Shetty.  Commentators were M.S Abdul Salam, Subramanayam,and Arun Milan.  Umpires were Anthony, Regal, Kavi, again, Swaminathan and Anthony Adimai.

Asmath Ali was the prize sponsor. Chiddanand Naik of M.Pallonji Qatar along with other prominent members of the community were present for the closing ceremony.

Sports Secretary Mohan Jeppina Mogaru delivered the vote of thanks and thanked each and every one who had put in their efforts in conducting this tournament. A special note of thanks was mentioned to the authorities of the Al-Ahamed Bin Hanbal Secondary School for permitting Tulu Koota to conduct the tournament.

Despite the cold Doha weather hundreds of people gathered to cheer their teams.

    Congratulations to the winning team ATS and KSQ the runner-up team. Excellent and lively photography and report by Alex. It was the good entertainment and was a nail biting final match as we all enjoyed a lot and got our childhood memories back. As the new generation children did not know what was being played. Thanks to Tulukoota President and his committee for organizing such a wonderful tournament and keeping alive and promoting such games in Gulf.
